I had been re-reading some of the Tangent series from DC, where familiar codenames had whole new concepts behind them. Like their Flash was a girl that transformed into, and controlled, light. So I was wondering what all you would come up with?
The rules are simple: 1. Any codename is available, hero or villain. 2. One character per post, and give someone else a chance to post first before your next character.
I'll be doing a character next post, to illustrate the point.

Codename: Mano Allegiance: Villain Abilities: This psychic believes himself to be the incarnation of the Anglo-Saxon moon god, and demands worship and offerings from the people around him. If they do not comply, he uses his powers to cause a wave of lunacy to destroy them.

Codename: The Persuader Allegiance: Hero Abilities: The Persuader has low level psychic abilities with which he can persuade people to his point of view and make people do things. However his arguments must be logical and make sense. Also he must ask people to do things politely and they won't do something that goes against the person too badly. For example, he could not ask a person to jump off a cliff, but he could ask a guard to please get the door for him and the guard would open it for him.
His fighting skills are very good after having asked the best fighters to train him.

Codename: Emerald Empress Allegiance: Depends on the situation
The Emerald Empress is the exiled monarch of the magical Emerald World, an alternate dimension with several doorways to the Tangent world. A usurper has seized power and exiled her, closing the doorways; she needs to assemble a combination of specific 13 Earth emeralds that each contain portions of a key in order to return; she also is recruiting allies. Each quest for one of the 13 emeralds finds her alternately on the side of heroes or villains; her quest is paramount to all else. Abilities: She has various magic-based powers and artifacts at her disposal; all use an emerald motif.

Codename: General Zod Allegiance: US military Abilities: Superman-class powers
Ephram Zod was an exemplarary career soldier, climbing his way up through the ranks, putting duty ahead of internal politics. As super-hero and super-villain populations began to skyrocket, he lobbied that the US army could not be left behind, else it would become irrelevant, as well as unable to cope with metahuman threats to national and global security. His pleas fell on deaf ears, so he secretly channeled funds to fund a secret military meta-human program, the One Man Army Corps program run by Dr. Jacques Zuir. When authorities moved to shut down the program, Zod, Zuir, and Zod's assistant Farrah Hull used the OMAC technology to give themselves Superman-class powers, before destroying the equipment so it could not fall into the wrong hands. After the fact, the Joint Chiefs of Staff reluctantly agreed to drop charges, and use the trio as their agents among the metahuman community.

I want to try reviving this thread. But to make it more of a game, I'll name an existing character. The next poster will have to reimagine that character and then leaves another character name for the next poster to reimagine.

Mr. Fantastic fancies himself the ultimate ladies man and claims he has the power to woo anyone. In truth, his abilities exist only in his mind. But although his schemes always backfire, he often stumbles into victory. For example, he attempts to seduce female super-villains and, as they laugh him off, other heroes swoop in and clean up crime!

The Thing Allegiance: Hero Abilities: Can turn himself into an inanimate object, once per day, for a period of one hour.
Several millenia ago, the hero now known as The Thing was the servant of an evil sorceror. Having run afoul of said sorceror, our hero was cursed by being changed into a hat rack. His spirit spent the intervening millenia trapped in this form, long out-surviving the sorceror who was responsible for his curse. Recently, the temple in which he stood was excavated, and the magic amulet of the evil sorceror broken, releasing our hero from the spell that beset him, and changing him back to human. Somehow, the whole experience left him with a unique ability however. Once per day, he can change himself into any inanimate object (things, rather than persons or places) he chooses for a period of about one hour, though he has to remain in that form for exactly that period. He also cannot significantly alter his mass, so the object he turns into must be roughly man-sized.

Invisible Girl Allegiance: Villain Abilities: Disguise artist
Suzy Storm is the little sister of Jon Storm, the Human Torch. Growing up, her particularly plain looks and shy demeanor made her feel "invisible" to boys and to other people generally. Through her brother, she became involved in illegal activities, in which she specialized in "casing" targets, using disguises in addition to her own nondescript appearance to move unnoticed and unchallenged in places that others might find difficult to visit.

Robin Allegiance: Gentleman Villain Abilities: Superhuman stamina
Richard Grayson was the bored son of a wealthy British family. On one of his fathers 'expeditions,' he stumbled upon the Ruby of Sobk-heru during a collapse that crushed him and left him near death. The Ruby bonded with his heart, and can usually be seen in conditions of total darkness as a ruddy glow coming from deep within his chest (it isn't visible under normal lighting, and can be concealed with layers of clothing). The Ruby has given him superhuman recuperative abilities (it glows more brightly when he is healing) and stamina (he never sleeps, can run indefinitely and can go weeks without food or drink, and many hours without air). Jaded by his seemingly immortal existence, Grayson has taken to a career of high-stakes cat-burglery, stealing from his fellow peers in British society, and occasionally even remembering the 'give to the poor' half of his credo. His code-name, 'Robin' came from a miscommunication during an early encounter with a tipsy heiress who slurred out an inquiry as to his identity. Mishearing her comment as 'what are you doing,' he replied, "What does it look like, eh? I'm robbin' you." before leaping out a window with a handful of her jewelry. He was later caught on camera healing from a gunshot wound and the reddish glow was clearly visible, leading to him occasionally being called 'Robin Redbreast.'

Moon Knight Allegiance: Spirit of Vengeance Abilities: Ghostly figure, appears and disappears at will; assorted supernatural powers
Purportedly the ghost of an ancient knight who was murdered in a Scottish manor house belonging to the McGowan family, the ghost still haunts the house and the descendants of the family, even though the house has since been moved to America. The ghost serves as I kind of judge over the members of the McGowan family, protecting those who have devoted their lives to good and punishing those who follow the path of evil. The ghost appears only within a few days surrouding a full moon, and while he can travel to a wide variety of points, seems to have some special connection to the house in which he was murdered.
