I love political discussions, but I recognize that they can get out of hand - especially with the perceived anonimity of the Internet.

I also love that we here on Legion World have a wonderful community that generally gets along quite well, and is generally less hostile than mny, many others.

We have a lot to be proud of.

I'm asking all my fellow Legion Worlders to go beyond the call of duty, when discussing potentially volatile comments of any sort, to be extremely civil and respectful, and re-read your own posts before sending them, asking yourselves, "is there any way this can be misinterpreted or taking negatively?"

I've been guilty once or twice myself, so I'm not pointing any fingers here. I just want this to be the same place that I look forward to visiting.

Thanks!

cheers

I think it's important in any debate or discussion to be extremely clear about the position you are taking and extremely clear about what your reasons for holding that position are.

It is also important to be as charitable as possible when reading the words of others, particularly given the fact that it is very difficult to convey tone in the written word.

You haven't gotten the word. Especially in regard to politics, this is no longer a discussion board. Period.

Grey, a lot of time and energy are being sunk into saving that aspect of the board. Rest assured I don't see it coming to that. The drama has been ratcheted up lately and I don't think any of us enjoy it. Tempers flare and tempers cool.

My name is at the top of this section as a mod, and if it need be that I am obliged to take a more active part for a while, so be it. Frankly, it's not what I want to do on my limited time here. In some ways I feel overly constrained from joining in the "controversial" topics since I'm a mod, which is a real sacrifice for a opinionated loudmouth like me.

Here, here Kent. The posters do indeed matter much more than the topics, considering we grow as friends over the years, while most of the various opinions expressed have remained stagnant since I first logged in in Sept. 2003.

Caring is sharing. Let's all share this space that's been provided to us and care about each other just a little bit more.

Because I dared to close one thread?!!? If you seriously feel that way, Grey then I don't know why you even bother posting here.

Politcs & Civility.

Is there anywhere in the world that these go hand in hand?

Surely politics is all about lying and cheating, backstabbing, ganging up on, slandering etc. etc. etc.
Tied together with lots of formalities and posturing, of course.

I hope that we here at LW are able to express our viewpoints without losing control of our emotions. I just witnessed a wonderful conversation (in RL) between a very conservative couple in their 60's and a very liberal young man. They had very differing opinions on politics, even did some stereotyping, yet everyone agreed that it's a big world, a big country and that there's room for lots of ideas.

I hope that if we break a rule, that we are promptly warned. I hope we heed that warning. I hope if we break another rule, that we're warned again, more seriously. I hope we try to get our senses in check. If we break another rule, I hope we realise that maybe this wasn't the place for us anyway, as we are banned.

Now, seriously. How's my hair? It's shorter than normal, but there's enough to kinda stick out in the front. Gives it some style. I suppose I need to clean up the neckline.
love

I'm sure that if youo tidy up the neckline a bit then you will be the very epitome of handsome, Sketchy.

A model for us all to aspire to. faint

Oh thanks! Did I mention that I've grown out a goatee? And longer sideburns? New for me. Well, I think I've done this look once before, when I had longer hair. A friend said I looked like some kind of European Duke or something. This time, with the shorter hair, though, I look more like a baseball fan or something. I dunno.

How's your hair? Maybe I need to make a new hair thread? I bet we could get Matthew to post pictures!
