Well its settled...I'm moving. Just got my plane tickets today. As some of you already know I've been out of work for quite a while. I've really been trying to get a job here in Newfoundland, but have had no luck:( So along comes my aunt who says she can get me a job in the store she works at. Even better, said job is at night, my prefered time to work. So i said "gear it up" and am now all set to make my way to fort mcmurray AB. I have to leave alot behind (i'm gonna miss my books) but eventually I'll be able to get most of it shipped to me. Have to desert my PC for a while too, I'll be posting from the public library for the first month or two that I'm there. I leave on Sept 5th, a week from today. I'm excited to have a job again, but sad to leave my beloved province behind. Anyhoo, I've rambled enough...carry on!!!

Alberta? That's pretty far from the coming apocalypse. At least as a Newfie you'd have gotten a whiff of plasma. Well, enjoy running the world. It gets old after awhile. Take care. Hope you enjoy the new life. So where're you originally from? East? West? Middle?

Enjoy Fort McMurray Deddy. I hear its one of the hoppingest places in the country right now. Mmmm heavy crude oil... mmmmm.
Lots of young people from all over Canada relocating there. I knew this girl who drove one of those three storey high dump trucks one summer.
I also hear that its an hour and a half north of Edmonton... by plane.
Not withstanding that, I'm hope it'll work out for ya. Remember when you leave there grab a handful of that tar sand. And don't worry about leaving the Rock, none of the Newfs I've met has forgotten home.

Thanks MEL....I already used Diamond's Comic Store Locator to find a comic shop just around the corner from where I'll be living YAHH!!!

Good luck, Ded! Big life changes can be a big ol hiccup, but they can bring great things! Even though you have to leave The Rock, you're still a Newfie no matter where ya go, and it'll still be there down the road!

There's probably more Easterners out in Fort McMurray than back home! What's the average age out there now - 25? Lots of opportunities and I hope you get to make the most of them; sure beats sitting around sans job.

Aaah, Alberta. When I was a kid I thought everybody's Dad wore jeans, cowboy boots and a big @$$ belt buckle. When we moved from Cold Lake AB (population at the time about 3000) to the relatively booming metropolis of Lloydminster (15000) I was unnerved to see my new friends fathers in suits! I grew up in northern Alberta (Cold Lake) and strangely, I don't remember it being any colder than Winnipeg (where I live know) which is so much further south. But I've never been to the Maritimes, so I can't really put that into perspective for you. If it doesn't work out, head to southern Alberta (ie. Lethbridge) where it's desert and the winters are very mild. Is your Aunt going to help you find a place to live? I remember there was a time when Fort McMurray had one of the worst housing shortages in the country. Hopefully things have changed for the better. Good luck!

The part of Newfoundland I live in now has really mild winters.....usually no snow till late dec or jan. Even then its not alot of snow falls.
As to a place to live, I'll be staying with my aunt till i can get a place of my own. I expect that to take a few months, as there is still a housing shortage in Fort McMurray

Deddy is doing great!! I quit my first job I had when I got here.... I found a better job. I'm now a security Guard at one of the Oilsands Production facilities. The job is great, I'm really enjoying it. We stay in here on site for two weeks then return to town for two weeks. (we work 12 hour shifts so I still average a little over 40 hours a week) Everyone one I work with is great, and about half of them are from Newfoundland too. The production facilities are amazing!!! They are HUGE!!! I mean I knew they were big, but this is mindnumbing. Anywoo, I of on my first turnaround this Monday, I have plans to goto the local Newfie Club this weekend with one of my uncles, to have a few drinks And that pretty much all the news from Fort McMurray for now.

Hello Legionworld....I'm heading back to camp today for another two weeks. I work till xmas day then I'm off to Newfoubdland for a visit during my two weeks off. I'm going to snag a few pic while I'm working this time, will post them when I get a chance. And seeing as I'll be working I won't be such a frequent poster over the next couple of weeks, though you can still expect to see me once a day!!! Well I'm off......

Have a good trip Deddy. I've heard that the Tar Sands companies give a travel allowance for some of their employees every year? Are you lucky enough to get this. I can't imagine its a short trip back to NFLD from there.
And I think LW should make our next trip up there. I've always wanted to run over things with one of those 10 storey dump trucks.

Wow, I haven't updated this thread in ages. Anyhoo, not a whole lot happening, still working security, still like my job. Spring seems to have finally arrived, today was 8C...YEAH melting snow!!! I'm still fequenting the Newfie club (double rum and coke baby!!!) and the casino. I found a better comic shop than the one i was originally going to, I no longer miss any of my monthly titles. I've started shaving my head again, got the Lex Luthor look going again. Most awesome of all, I've made myself a new lady friend I have yet to introduce her to the Legion however. Oh and I bought Poser 7, a really cool 3d figure animator. I had Poser 4 but this is much better, expect some really cool art from me once i cook up some custom textures. Thats it for now....carry on about your business.

Hmmm...I hadn't really considered an election HQ, but i guess I should have one and this will do fine.
The Den is an extension of the poltergeist area, so all my staff are disembodied spirits and thus, do not drink. However the JD is very welcomed for my guests and potential voters.
In return for such a kind gesture, I have provided your cafe staff with all my secret recipes to help with the catering situation. I highly recommend the 5 mushroom sauce over pasta.
Well thats it my election HQ is now open for business, come one come all, get your free slinky and bottle of JD!!!

Between the circus at the Vudoo Lounge and the Sentience Explosion in the Den, there's a lot of amazing developments on Legion World. I just hope the Security Office is prepared if things get out of hand.

Awwww. These poor strippers look exhausted. And they're running out of things to strip (I think I saw one stripping the finish off the bar). The Space-Slinkies are kind of saggy too. Wonder what's happening over at the Vudoo Lounge....

That was not a cat. It was a Durlan. Didn't you see how the black spot kept changing sides?

Deddy, congratulations on attaining the most important, most powerful office in the known universe: Deputy Leader of the LMB! Here are the keys that Kent gave me at the beginning of my term. Use them in good health!
The only character in all of literature who has been described as "badnass" while using the phrase "vile miscreant."

Ded, there's a couple of surly looking guys out in the parking lot asking about you. They say you owe them for 1,202 reverse momentum Space-Slinkies (I took two, sorry), three weeks of stripper service (including dry cleaning for 50 thongs and twice as many pasties), a dancing (french Canadian?) cat with an apparent coke problem, super-space hookers...umm...hookahs (either way it ain't gonna be cheap), and some toast.

Good luck, dedman!
Say, if I were a female member of Legion World, I might possibly be offended by having the term "cupcake" tossed at me. I'm guessing you probably didn't mean anything by it...but, again, that's just a guess.
Good luck!

Perhaps "cupcake" could refer to prostitutes and therefore ease some of the tension between pro-prostitute LMBers and uptight crotchety LMBers?
Could be a good election platform Deddy--evidence of a longstanding committment to solving this problem!

Thanks for shedding some light on this matter, Cobalt Kid! So, when dedman says, "Get me a cupcake, NOW, damn it!", He's actually asking for a hooker named Fawnette, who's wearing nothing but a rubber Dick Cheney mask and specializes in naked waterboarding!
Scandalous!
You know, after studying his posts, I'm pretty certain that he using the words "cookie" and "nun" interchangeably, as well!

Friends!
Romans!
Roma-ro-ma-ma!
Gaga-ooh-la-la!
Watch out for romance!
A vote for Dedman and myself means another useless bit of pop culture trivia will be disseminated through the internet. It means fans of the pre-"Lovedrive" Scorpions and post-"Lovedrive" Scorpions will be united in peace (although there would have to be a consensus that "Savage Amusement" was their last good album and that they didn't have a clue without Dieter Dierks producing.)
But I digress.
(Like that doesn't happen all the time.)
Horror movies and Hello Kitty. Heavy metal and classic Europop. Only the Dedman/Stealth ticket could bring such groups together in harmony.
Vote for us, and the LMBP will be even crazier and more inane!

*with a momentary truce, Cobalt Kid and Chief Lardy arrive at the Powersphere after leaving The Rookery .* During the course of my investigation I begun to realize the drug smuggling ring was bringing something far more dangerous to Legion World, as you’ve probably learned as well. I worked with Kent Shakespeare to find out what was actually being brought in was one specific person. I reconfirmed the Dark Oval’s involvement and had Space Ranger assemble all the data on Legion World showing the arrivals of new citizens when compared to Gruertis Nyebif’s records of drug imports. What I found was telling. <Cobalt stops for a moment and annoyingly shifts topics, not revealing what he found> Traditionally when I would conduct investigations, I would use Lolita as my top analyst. Her mind as you know is brilliant, and she has a computer-like ability to analyze data, recognize patterns and make information-based assumptions on what is happening. My codename for her was ‘Oracle’. Without her, I’ve been a bit lost. It was only when I had some to think about the normal steps I would take that I realized one of Lolita’s immediate processes is to analyze the recent newsfeeds for any topics that may at first appear inconsequential but could be more important. I asked My Whee Fem to do this for us and she came through. She reported that recently Dedman was overheard complaining about problems at the Powersphere . This was in the gossip columns where they were really reporting on his wife’s pregnancy but this bit of data still saw print. Further digging revealed there was a small article about problems the Powersphere was having where sabotage was not completely ruled out. As you are aware better than anyone, the Powersphere is critical to the safety of Legion World. If my theory on the attacker holds up, it fits that this could be him. Rather than sabotaging Legion World, he probably has been staying here all these months. This is a highly dangerous area so you have to be extremely powerful to even be here; it also means it’s a great place to hide because most people can’t actually enter this space. <opens the doors> Within, we should find out if someone has been staying here. Be on your guard…I’m hoping I’m wrong but if I’m right, we have one of our worst enemies within…

<walks with him>
<shudders slightly as they enter> I know all-too well how important these powerspheres are to us. I can still remember very clearly what it felt like to die in order to reignite the main one at LW's core! It was neither quick nor painless...not at all...
<changes the subject as he feels increasing ly uncomfortable> You know, Des, it's obvious you strongly suspect who we're dealing with and yet are extremely reluctant to name him or her. Thing is, knowing you, your theory's probably on the money, so...
...well, what I'm saying is, wouldn't it be prudent to have already had some countermeasures in place? If it's someone we've dealt with before, surely you have some ideas about what measures would be effective against him or her? If you already have, don't you think having the Security Office in on it would've made things go more smoothly?
Look, Des, you said it yourself back there: I'm your best friend! We've been through Hell together and back! Why don't you take something from all this and learn to confide in your best friend every goddam once in a while? If you have concerns about me, talk to me about them, and get your friggin' head outta your ass! That's what best friends frickin' do!
Am I gettin' through at ALL, here?!?!
Still "Lardy" to my friends!

Lardy, though I do have a suspicion, I’ve only just pieced it together a few hours ago. By the time it came to me, I was already on the run from your officers and have been ever since. I’ve hardly had a moment to process the thought, let alone consider counter-security measures. As for my worries over your methods, perhaps your right. I should have come to you sooner. I honestly wanted to stay out of it but it only became a real concern once I was actually involved. You see, what worries me the most is that I’m right and the culprit is really… <suddenly Cobalt stops as he and Lardy turn the corner; before them is a plethora of belongings, as obviously someone had been staying here; Cobalt was right, this was a hideout. And one specific uniform lay among the items which sealed who the culprit was> …bloody liberty… …I can’t believe it. I hoped it couldn’t be! Lardy, the unknown assailant is The Red Bee!!!

On their way to the Powersphere. "Bloody right I'm liking this way to travel. Who wouldn't?" Furball just grins. "I need to just get around the Powershpere and see if I can pick up his trail. I need you to watch my back as I track this s.o.b. down."

"Knew I could count on you darlin'." he says with a wink.
Furball walks around concentrating, trying to pick up Red Bees scent.
"There are several trace scents here. Too much Dedman...geez. Here we go..."
He turns to her and smiles. "You ready?"
Before she can reply...he darts off into the city.

{thinks} I'm a little fuzzy on Wyandotte's plan for what this operation turned out to be. Let's see if Furball finds something that rings a bell.

Furball moves faster on foot than Hot Chick would have expected for someone without super speed. He stops at an intersection...then goes right. He finally comes to Cobies Lounge.
