Thank you Darden, I really like the fact that you're looking at all our work in these art threads and we always appreciate comments more than you guys know. A simple something from the audience means a lot to us. Yeah, we've started sharing and debating techniques but you can just ignore all that and enjoy the pics...at least wer're hoping people are enjoying them.
Also I love doing those Jim Mooney Supergirl sketches, I have another one that's being worked on but it's unfinished. The real temptation with Mooney is to do it like he drew it (with Kara naked) if you'll look very closely you can see the body lines of the sketch and it's so tempting to do an adult version...but I didn't.
All that said, I thought I'd mess around with the Jim Lee Legion sketches a little bit. Here's the first of (maybe) a series of those.

Yeah, I think I like the Barry's Ultra Boy better than I like Jim's. I like the look when the chest emblem is larger and spreads across the front. Jim Lee's is pretty cool too though.
Polar Boy (the poster) showed us a Supergirl pic by one of the Moys that I hadn't seen before and it made me want to futz around with it and try something. It refused to cooperate with me (darnit) so I'm going to set it aside and play with it again later but here's what I got out of it so far...
Hey, I thought it was a cute idea.

Well, it doesn't look like Laurel, but it's cute
What's happening with leaving the white edges on the lines though? I thought you'd got past that with the Mooney sketch (hell, it's easier to just set up a multiply layer and paint over internal lines than it is to try and colour "up to the line" like you're doing)
-------------------- My views are my own and do not reflect those of everyone else... and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Tolja..I'm fighting the wrong battle here. I have to set it aside and rethink my approach on this one.

Thank you Ari. I spent more time on that onoe than I should have but I was learning how to use a new process (new to me). I liked my working version a lot better than the finished one so I'll probably go back to it and see if I can get it to finish out a bit better.
