I'm a big fan of the theme music (kind of reminds me of a mix of the 70s "Wonder Woman" theme and the score from "The Incredibles".) Does anyone know if it's available anywhere (the Kids!WB website allows you to download the Batman theme, but not the Legion one. Of course, I'm asking alot as there's only been two aired episodes, but c'MON!)

I really think, in a show for kids particularly, giving Brainiac robot-transformer-powers is an admission that, 'hey kids, *being smart* isn't cool enough.'

I completely agree. So far, this is my biggest issue with the series as a whole. Brainy's always been one of my favorite Legionnaires precisely because his 12th Level intelligence was his only "power". Where others use their fists or energy casting to get out of situations, Brainy out-thinks the problem (which is another reason I love his current quandry regarding Dreamy in SATLOSH so much. It's fun when Brainy's right all the time, but it's SO much more fun when he's wrong!)

Its fun seeing the LSH on the screen but I'm not really getting into this series as much as I would've liked.

Maybe its gonna take a few eps to warm up but so far it seems to be aiming at a lot younger audience than any of the Bruce Timm series' or even the Teen Titans series did. It almost seems one step above the Krypto cartoon in its extremely simple plot and characterisations.

And chalk me up as one who simply can't get past the Brainiac 5 changes - he's so far divorced from the comic version that they may as well have called him something else... like for example Chameleon Boy since that's who he seems to be chanelling.

Other random gripes -

* Braal instead of Zuun - does anyone on the staff there actually have a knowledge of the Legion mythos or are they just skimming throuhg back-issues and writing down the major points. Braal's a pretty important planet to get so wrong.

* Why was Chuck bouncing instead of flying across the planet? (Though it did look kinda funny.)

* Did Saturn Girl gain telekinetic and illusion-casting powers at one point? Not a fan if so. Bring on Kinetix and the Princess!

* SuperMAN will just never sound right.

It was great seeing all the members at the end though and there are enough good things about this show that I can see it hopefully get a lot better in the long run. Here's hoping.

It was Rahl rather than Braal, but it's still mysterious why they didn't call it "Zoon".

The uber-Saturn Girl is one of the many icky post-Zero Hour innovations which seem to have crept into the series. I can live with it though.

It especially sounds weird with every else going by thier lad/lass/kid/boy/girl names.

This was a good episode, and a worthy follow-up to the premier. I enjoyed the opening scene with the banter between Lightning Lad and Superman, and the conflict between Bouncing Boy and Brainiac 5. It was nice to see the latter two coming to understand one another.

I, too, thought that the planet was "Braal" at first, and was ready to complain about the arbitrary change to the Legion mythos, but I can live with "Rahl." I guess the TV creators have to put their in their own spin on things, and it's a minor change, at any rate.

TW's origin: This version is more dramatic than the original insofar as it casts Dr. Mar Londo as the villain (which he wasn't in the original story -- a new TV show needs villains). It also gives TW a sympathetic twist: Is he going to "monster out" on his teammates at some point? I thought this story offered a clever synthesis of all the various incarnations of TW.

My least favorite part of the episode: Saturn Girl becoming helpless three times -- particularly during the cave scene, where her unconsciousness provided a contrived excuse for LL and Supes to battle TW. As the only female Legionnare present, doesn't it seem so 1950s for her to need to be rescued so often?

But I really like SG's personality. She can take care of herself, yet shows compassion toward Brin as easily as she did to Clark in the first episode. (As to why she panicked when she first saw Brin hovering over her -- it was a believable reaction. Note, however, that she quickly became calm and realized that TW wasn't going to hurt her.)

I'm liking Chuck more and more. Why does he bounce when the other Legionnaires are flying on Rahl? Well ... because he's "improvising"! [Smile]

I was less impressed with the oath scene at the end than some others. There was nothing wrong with it; it's just more or less what I was expecting. The cameos of other Legionnaires are nice, but I'll be more interested when I see them in a story. (Though it's fun to suppose how kids just discovering the Legion might react to all those unidentified faces.)

Two episodes ... two winners!

Cool, thanks Nightcrawler. I suppose Ayla will have to wait until the episode where Lightning Lad dies or meets Mekt. Dunno about the others.

TW has always been my favorite character. I actually first began reading LSH because I was intrigued by the Cockrum-costume TW on one of my brother's LSH digests. So I was really looking forward to the episode introducing him.

I enjoyed the episode, but had a few nits. I thought the origin was good and didn't mind the variations from the original. I'm not a big fan of the shapeshifting TW (admission, I never liked the feral/furball versions of TW in the comics), but I'm willing to accept this version for the cartoon.

This incarnation of TW is very Wolverine-ish. Coupled with the changes in Saturn Girl, who is very much in Phoenix/Jean Grey mode, I wonder if this is deliberate. With the "Saturn Girl understands TW while Lightning Lad doesn't" part of the episode, I was almost waiting for TW and LL to have an argument about who Saturn Girl likes more ala the Wolverine/Jean Grey/Cyclops triangle in the X-Men movies. If the series makes any effort at having continuing storylines, I wouldn't be surprised to see that happen. It certainly seemed to be hinted at when TW saved Saturn Girl at the very end of the episode, and they exchanged looks (while LL seemed to be watching). I'm torn about them going that route, because on the one hand, there is LSH canon for it (the asteroid incident), but it may seem a bit derivative.

My other nit about TW is his voice and dialogue. It just seems off. He goes from monster form to normal and his first words are "Do you mind?" And his speech to Mar about parents protecting children as well as his comments before taking the oath just seemed so flat. I know that Lightning Lad is supposed to be the hothead on the team, but I would have liked TW to have a bit more gravitas and anger in his voice. He had a tremendous right to be angry and, in fact, completely lost it right after the speech about children. I wish his voice had conveyed some of that.

I'll join the chorus about super-Brainy. I don't think I'd mind his acrobatics and fighting prowess if they made it clear that he was using particular gadgets that he had designed. Right now, though, he's too physically powerful and what makes the character so unique in comics is getting a bit lost.

I am loving Bouncing Boy -- and I have never really been much of a fan of the character in the comics.

As long as neither TW or Brainy claim to be "the best at what they do" I think we're okay.

In a horrible DVR mishap I missed the first ep, so this was my first animated Legion experience. I thought they kept enough of the old stories and added a bit to keep it current. Not a big fan of Robobrainy, but I do like the fact that he seems shorter and younger than the others.

SuperMAN: Did they establish in the first ep that this is a younger Superman? He doesn't have a very deep voice.

My seven- and six-year olds were fished in big time! My son said a few times "He did that to his OWN SON??!!?"

Listen, if it were up to me, we'd just animate the entire Legion run from the beginning through today in the style of each major artist (wouldn't the Shooter Legion make a great retro cartoon, with all of the characters based on Swan's work?), but obviously that's not going to happen. So I'm going to work really hard at not getting too nitpicky on changes from the original or things that I might have done differently. Because for real, back when many of us were on the DC boards, marking time with horrible reboot Bizarro Legion issues, would anyone have guessed there would EVER be a Legion cartoon? Think of all the kids being brainywashed into Legion fans every Saturday!

Well, of course I was thrilled to catch glimpses of my two favorite members, Sun Boy and Dream Girl! Thought Dreamy looked great--not sure about the long mullet look for Sun Boy, but I did like the sleevless look. I hope we actually get to see them in an episode!

I also think Saturn Girl looked a bit less creepy this episode.

I agree with Jacky, Saturn Girl did look lees creppy and had the normal eyebrows. I hope after a couple of seasons, the LSH will go Unlimited and have a rotating cast. I hope that is the aim of the creators of the show.

Wouldn't bother me at all if it's Jacques..even though I'd seriously miss Lyle.

My first reaction when Superbo...man (that's going to take getting used to) held out the case and asked, "Ready?" was an actual comic book style -gasp- followed by an' "Oh wow!"
Yeah, the fanboy side of me really kicked into high gear. I was really impressed that they'd have a Legion Induction Ceremony in the second episode of the series. I wasn't expecting to see one at all.

I didn't get to see it until Sunday (on tape) and my 6yr old was happily "spoiling" it for me as we went along. Apparently he'd watched it at least three times on Saturday and was excited about waiting for Dad to get home and watch it again!

I'm hooked and I have to agree about the mixed feelings about the merchandise [Big Grin] I'll buy everything I can afford...and then some...I think I'm mainly dreading how many Happy Meals I'm going to have to eat to get all the toys.
