Quis you have me a bit confused. What do you mean back to two Legionnaires?

Sensor Girl - Jeka at her most powerful. No one will see any obvious displays of power with her around.
Invisible Kid II - Jacques will be hiding in plain sight
Brainiac 5 - to bore the tourists with time travel theory and make them leave the room
Phantom Girl - can easily take the jewels out of their alarmed holding area
Shadow Lass - to provide the cover of darkness to keep that pesk obvious display of power thing in check
Mon-El - in case anything goes wrong and to keep Shady company

Loser Lad, I think your choices for the Real World plotling are perfect. One of the Triads can be in a bad mood to supply the 'witchiness'.

DEV-EM: Who crashes the party, saying that he can somehow relate to the madman. He keeps shaking his head and muttering 'deja vu'.
GATES: To whisk the bomb away as a last resort.
XS: To speed Gates from point to point if he has to teleport the bomb into space.
BRAINIAC 5: For technical expertise, natch.
M'ONEL: To evacuate the moon with speed and strength as a precaution.

Garth & Ayla, as Winathians, aren't ashamed of their nudity. Dirk & Nura - both are beautiful people and could be convinced. Tenz & Lu Purple - both are impulsive enough to be convinced, but they'd probably end up having sex and upsetting the sculptor.

Kinetix - fashions -well, duh! Clothes, clothes and more clothes!
Invisible Kid - lab equipment; Brainy would just get stuck in a store and not buy anything
Chuck Taine - repair supplies and stuff like that
Tenzil Kem - somebody has to restock the food!
XS - she can handle everything else; though she'd probably drop by a souvenir shop and get mementos for all her friends
Shvaughn Erin - just to supervise and make sure they don't spend too much; most of the Legionnaires are probably busy. I can see her helping Chuck with repair supplies and security equipment or maybe getting some training equipment for the Legionnaires (if you want to really stick to the rules then Karate Kid in her place, I'm sure Val can act as the money-holder of the group and make sure they don't go over budget)
The Legion gets an emergency call about a Sun Eater approaching the fringes of the UP, requiring most of the active membership to go. But something tells them it might be a decoy. Pick a team of six to stay behind just in case the call is a trick and someone tries to attack in their absence.

Tyroc would be considered to be the vocal expert of the Legion, so we'd be remiss not to send him.
Dream Girl ought to go just because she loves the camera and the camera loves her.
Light Lass would be the kindly Paula Abdul type.
Bouncing Boy, the morale officer, would be there to keep the contestants' spirits high.
Superboy would use his super-hearing to detect even the smallest imperfections in one's vocal performance.
Wildfire would be the ascerbic Simon Cowell of the group.
I'll admit to never having seen American Idol, so I don't nkow if these are really good choices or not. If anyone else wants to have a go at this go right ahead.

Brainiac 5 (really goes without saying on this one)
Kid Quantum (her all-purpose quantum spheres would surely come in handy)
Shikari (If any of them have to go into the disturbance to stop it, she's the best bet for helping them find their way out.)
Star Boy (His power-up as a mobile singularity might also come in handy)
Wildfire (A big gun for possible combat, plus a high-octane energy wielder would probably come in handy.)
Next mission, based on plots from Futurama and Star Trek IV: The unthinkable has happened, and someone has gone back in time and stolen the cast of Friends before they made the series finale! Pick 6 Legionnaires to go back in time and rescue the Friends cast, all the while standing in for them on the series finale! The future of Earth depends on it, since an omnipotent race of aliens 1000 light years away is really torqued off that the show never finished.
