Sorry for the loss. Still, I imagine it was a good life for him - 11 years for a dog is pretty long, isn't it?
I'm thinking of an animal.

It depends on the breed. Smaller dogs tend to live quite a bit longer than larger dogs. Without researching it, 11 sounds a bit short for a dachsund, who would imagine would average about 14-15.
Anyway, is it a mammal?

Thanks, CMK. He was a wonderful dog, and I remember having to carry him out towards the end when he became too weak to walk to the curb where he'd relieve himself.
Dachshunds average 12-15 years, so I'll have to check with my mom. I remember he passed in 2008, but I keep forgetting whether he was born in 1997 or 1995. I'm leaning towards '95, since I remember my mom kept saying he did live a long life.
