I'm a casual fan of the Jets--root for them though they're not my favorite (or even second favorite team). And man, they are freaking ridiculous to watch. It's not too difficult to see why a Jets fan might throw the remote through the TV.
Meanwhile, the Patriots reminded everyone why they're ALWAYS among the best teams in football.

Heartbreaking last minute on the Carolina game. Panthers had Atlanta pinned on their own 1 yard line with zero time outs. Matty Ice immediately throws a 60-year prayer that gets answered. Then, it's a series of gains to give kicker Bryant a fairly easy FG in the Georgia Dome.
Damn. Panthers seriously outplayed the Falcons the second half, but all that matters is the final score.

My first try at this went surprisingly well well; let's see if I can keep it up ...
Last week there were only a handful of games which appeared (to me) to have clear favorites; I thought most of them could easily go either way. But I played my hunches, and most of them paid off.
This week's matchups seem (again, to me) to include more "obvious" favorites than last week's; it will be interesting to see if there is more or less consensus in people's picks.

I'll go against the grain and pick St. Louis for Thursday night's game. They're at home, they're competitive this year and they've got Jeff Fisher for a head coach. Should be a good game and a gut-check for both teams.

I'll go Arizona, since every time I pick an upset winner, I seem to jinx it.
