I was sold with 'Night Girl returns'

I hope she is there to be more than just the weeping widow though..!
Really not a fan of Kolins' art at all, never have been....this isn't the worst he's done though, the panels with just technology (eg: the Legion cruiser and the raiders' base) don't look too bad.

I hope Levitz hasn't stripped Cosmic Boy of his powers as a way to retire him as a Legionnaire.

It would be intriguing to find out that the new Tharok is setting up minor crimes / disasters to draw out specific Legionnaires into prepared ambushes, and that the machinery the Braalian pirates were using was designed to short out his powers, to take Rokk out of the game.
The byline of this new issue, 'Will Element Lad/Chemical Kids powers save them... or kill them?' suggests that perhaps traps are being set up to counter Legionnaires specifically, targetting their powers, or even turning them against them, as part of a longer-term plan.
That's kind of novel, if that's where Paul is going with this.

Actually, it's kind of similar to the Fatal Five's plot from their second appearance, which makes it both cool and plausible.

Was that the one with Karate Kid in a diamond? I can't remember all the details. FFive was collecting power or something...
Yeah, it would be similar. Kind of cool, I suppose.
But why would Cos be seen as a particular threat?

Yeah, they captured the Legionnaires in traps specifically designed to counteract their powers, in order to make them use their powers to the maximum extent or something, so they collect power to escape the dimension they were exiled to after their first appearance.
As far as Cos... Tharok is half made of metal?

Good issue! Kolins art is growing on me, and I initially thought he was a bad choice. I think his rendition of Element Lad is one the best.
Finally, Chemical Kid is sounding and acting like a Legionnaire. Also, it was great seeing how he and Element Lad worked together and used teamwork. And it's great seeing how powerful and dangerous Jan really is once again.
Nice to see the Comet Queen mystery clearing up, but what happens now?
Interesting how Tinya responds to Dirks touch, and a nice reference to the wormhole from the mini-series.
Can we see Shadow Lass and Night Girl go into battle? It's happened in the Grell era, but how about now?

Definitely another solid issue.
Thought the Adv. 247 reference of the Braalian helmets were a nice touch. As usual, the bad guys could've been more developed, though. At least throwing Magno Lad in there as one of them would've helped.
I actually thought the "no touching" scene was a bit clunky. It's an interesting bit to the character, but one would think a longterm teammate like Dirk woudld've internalized it by now. It should've been a new member who needed the reminder.
Liked the spotlight on Jan and Hadru, though, and I have to say I'm enjoying the latter more and more as time passes.

I kind of like the last page bit where Ayla points out that their team is composed of 'uniques,' like Hadru, and not people who come from planets (like Braal) where everyone has powers.
Given how many Legionnaires share powers with people from their homeworlds (Saturn Girl, Cosmic Boy, Shrinking Violet, Superpeeps, Mon-El, Triplicate/Duplicate Girl, Dream Girl, Phantom Girl, etc.) it's a neat distinction.
