This thread will follow the ongoing adventures of the 35 century Legion, stationed at their base, the planetoid Legion 'Stroid.

Current ongoing space adventures (aside - don't you agree what a great line that is - "ongoing space adventures"!)can be found in Fun and Games, and to be fair you'd best read the first five pages or so of that to be able to follow this.

If you can manage all of that then enter and enjoy!

Let me know if you're enjoying/understanding this at any point, I lova chat! [Big Grin]

What has gone before - One(Edited excerpt from Legion 35C)

Mega's Journal, syndicated by the Orbit, Planet Size News for Everyday Folk.

If ever there was a life different from the monotony of Strivasava Iv this was it. Though it was unfortunate that the climate was just as damp.

We knew that the Princess had taken quite a shine to Dak and it was affirming to us all that he seemed to reciprocate. Of course we all respected Dak, he grew to become one of my greatest friends, though I do believe in the back of everyone's minds we were overly aware
that here was a Being who could destroy a Planet!

On the march to the Courtroom with Dak on that infamous second appearance the many shouts of support and the well wishes I received, along with the H'tridki Hive Warriors popping in and out of time keeping their Queen's promise of an Honour Guard for me left me nearly in tears!

Again, on Imsk that would never have been allowed to happen, the crowds shouting at a Law Official, or the sentimental response!

I was so sprockin' glad to get away from Imsk that I had almost forgotten about the beautiful friend I had in Gimallon. He was there that day and it then that he agreed to be my Father Giver
if ever Commander Cruiser made an honest woman of me.

Neither of us believed it would ever happen!

………………….

What has gone before – Two

The Legion has been reborn in the 35th Century under the control of a Naltori Seer, Kord Das.

The UP has been fragmented by the extra-dimensional attack of the Grand Invaders. The Nu UP is slowly reforming though many dozens of worlds are still lost to them.

The newly rebuilt Legion ‘Stroid is slowly making its way to The Dark Space – the area of former UP systems that have been annexed by the Grand Invaders.

Many worlds have sponsored meta Beings to join the Legion. These include Snaija Patel and Enri Longtan of the Imskian Leviathons, Commanders Hor Elli and Moh Johh of the Daxam Space Rangers and Sparkzzz of Winath.

Along with Ambassador Avatar of the space faring Kenroshi and Widdid Spood, a Durlan Green Lantern these 35th century heroes are currently permanently based on the Legion ‘Stroid.

Commander Hor Elli and Snaija Patel have only just returned from their honeymoon.

Enri Longtan has been seriously reprimanded for inadvertantly causing the death of a recruit on a recent Mission. His current partner, Hol El, has had a one night stand with Commander Hor Elli – the night before his wedding.

Commander Hor Elli and his new wife, Shaija Patel, Mega of the Imsk Leviathons, have returned from their honeymoon amid a rapturous blaze of publicity. There are two channels of interactive media dedicated to the lives of the staff onboard Legion ‘Stroid. Both channels postponed their usual features when news leaked out three hours before the couple’s shuttle docked.

Both Legionnaires had reported for duty upon the CCC deck within a standard hour of their return.

Both are releived when they are told they are to be stationed onboard Legion ‘Stroid for the foreseeable future to aid the Ambassadorial Support Teams.

In the first week after their return they are given a light load of work.

They are asked to test out the buoyancy of the Water Sphere. This takes them nearly four standard hours and involves much laughter, splashing and games that involve them ducking each other and underwater athletics.

They are assigned the unheard of duty of checking the upper VIP quarters for any potential problems. This task, for some strange reason, took them six hours and their laughter and many delighted squeals were heard during this time.

The four spas on Legion ‘Stroid each receive unannounced visits from the pair as they are sent to inspect premises and rate the level of service offered.

The six michelin starred Bismollian Chef, Ozi Chinns, is challenged to provide a banquet for the couple and twelve of their fellow Legionnaires. It is not true that when Hor Elli called Ozi Chinns “a Bismoll Chef” Sparkzzz of the Sol Defence League asked “Why employ him then?” though it was reported far and wide. A few of the earlier reports had the Green Lantern Widdid Spood confirm this though later he denied that he understood the question correctly.

In fact Commander Hor Elli and his new bride, Shaija Patel have a wonderful first week back on active duty, enjoying the magical blossoming feelings that only newly weds truly understand. The enjoy this time, every golden second of it right up to the discovery of the first shredded corpse.

After that they both feel that their "happy bubble" has been popped.

Hol El is bored.

Like yawnfestiv to the Grobby MAX!

Would Blatchin’ Enri high and oh so sprockin’ mighty Longtan stop talking about himself already? What a truly nadirish dullard! Hol El was regretting allowing this one way farce of a relationship to carry on after the first furtive encounter. No, that wasn’t true. Hol El really did like Enri Longtan, he was a genuinely decent man, honest, caring, generous, strong and capable. Just could he squajjing shut the sprock up and sniff the joopli flowers. They were never going to be a long term couple. Maybe they could – oh how did her mother express it again? Ah yeas – maybe they could lend each other a helping hand from time to time bot holy mother of Grife the man was too much for a totally serious commitment!

They sat in one of the more luxurious honeycombs in the Great Hive World Restaurant to the Stars. It wasn’t very good thought Hol El. And listening to the man sat opposite her jabber on about his ratings and his agents fees and how-oh-so-embarrassing-it-was-to-be-blanked-by-the-maitre’d-like-oh-my-sprockin’-world-how-awful-I’ll-just-go-drown-myself-now sob story made her want to ram her invulnerable fist down his throat and grab something warm and bloody. Or at least order another glass of Flanitol uzo and see if drunkenness would help the evening any.

Tonight had been their One True Month anniversary. Didn’t he understand that that in itself was something for Hol El to celebrate – 30 days with the same partner… maybe there had been two encounters with the delightful Daxamite Commander Cruiser, Hor Elli of the Great Northern Fleet, but as far as Hol El could see EVERYBODY was granted a visit by the big man at least once. Anyway, that was something that Enri didn’t need to know about, everyone knew that women’s urges were always stronger than a man’s anyway so he would understand. If he didn’t then Hol El could always show Enri the vid scoop she had made when Hor Elli had paid a furtive visit the other afternoon.

Hol El had been half listening to Enri for too long now. Her stock answers of “really?”, “of course” and “sorry I don’t understand” had been repeated too often now. She pretended to be interested in the dish before her.

“I said Hol, if you don’t want to be here then please feel free to leave whenever you want.”

She looked up from the half eaten dish before her with a coy flicking of her lashes.

“Enri, maybe we both need a bit of time to think things through, you understand? Maybe it would be best if I left…” she trailed off as she saw the look in his eyes change from playful dryness to genuine concern. He quickly slipped into his best laugh but the hurt was there, on the edge of his glance.

Oh sprock, squajj and fuck! Hol El wished she had just kept smiling now.

Enri believed that the cracks were showing long before this evening.

They had only seen each other twice in the last week. He wanted more, she seemed strangely neutral to any of his suggestions. He knew that the regime that the Legion Applicants signed up for was tough. He had been involved in the initial consultation process that had put it together. After the tragedy of Fredd’s death the applicants had found that the initial friendliness and good humour that their supervisors, dorm leaders and trainers had shown was replaced by gimlet stares and tight lipped barking of orders.

Hol El had told him about her training for the Small Worlds Guarda. How of the 24 new recruits who had started at the same time as she only 13 had remained through out the training. Of the other 11, 9 had walked away, unable to keep up with the pressures levied against them, one had been killed irretrievably and one had died the flesh death and his essence had been given to the Core Minds, the elder voices that resided within the catacombs built into each of the five original Small Worlds. The Gang of Thirteen, the graduates had called themselves and until she had decided for Legion membership she had always assumed she would remain one of them. Hol had made him laugh earlier describing the long hard days that she had had to endure of the last week. He had sympathised when se had told him that Team Three had been split up and she only ever saw Cheshire, the Elevated Cat these days. Hol had called the training ‘arduous’, ‘torture’ and ‘bloody hard!’. She wasn’t, despite her protestations of the opposite, enjoying her time as a Legion trainee at all.

He had tried on several occasions to get her to talk about her reasons for joining and, if things were bad, her reasons for staying. Enri was shrewd enough to recognise her discomfort at these questions. Her eyes became interested in an imaginary spot just to the left of his head and she laughed a very forced laugh. Enri wanted to know her reasons even more after that but knew better than to force the question. Not yet anyway.

They sat in the plush honeycomb, the conversation was drying up and Enri Longtan tried one more time to get some sort of reaction beyond the perfunctory. He tried to do his best impersonation of the Court Speaker as they read out the charges that he had recently had against him, then he mimicked the change in tone as the Speaker read out the findings.

The courts findings had been that he had acted in a totally appropriate manner given the level of threat. They agreed that the team briefing, basic two by two team strategy he insisted that the group operate in and his maintenance and execution of the telepathway gestalt contact channel had been wholly in keeping with what would have been expected in the circumstances. Okay, so they were pissed off that he had only instigated the mission to the Lattice ‘Stroids that tragically led to Fredd’s death as he was bored of the try outs. He had been reprimanded for that. He had been fined. It was on his official file too.

Like Whoopee Sprockin’ Doo!

Enri Longtan had been an army man for nearly fourteen years now and he had developed a skill at reading the minute body language signs that all Earth Stock Beings gave off. Hol El was definitely not enjoying this conversation, from her distracted airs Enri would wager that she wanted to be elsewhere.

“I said Hol, if you don’t want to be here then please feel free to leave whenever you want.”

She looked up from the half eaten dish before her with a coy flicking of her lashes.

“Enri, maybe we both need a bit of time to think things through, you understand? Maybe it would be best if I left…”

He knew then with the gut certainty that he had come to rely on that he wasn’t the only man in Hol El’s life. And probably not the most important one either. His Wrist 'mator vibrated and he glanced at the small screen. It was Hor Elli informing him of another shredded corpse.

Enri just laughed to himself. Perfect timing Commander, he thought, thanks a lot mate.

Of the eleven ambassadors currently in residence on Legion ‘Stroid only five turn up for the meeting Commander Hor Elli had called an hour earlier. In light of the second body turning up in what could only be described as a shredded state he thought the request was warranted. It didn’t take a Coluan Logic Range an age to query the coincidences at two members of Ambassadorial staff being murdered.

Of the six missing from the meeting the twins from Winath had sent interactive Holo Chips.

Avatar of the Kenroshi was currently in space with Widdid Spood of the Green Lantern Corps helping to coordinate the raised level of security around the ‘Stroid. They have been joined by Small Circle of Stars and Three Hills of the Starhaven Freetraders. The quarantine measures they were introducing were extremely unpopular but backed by Kord Das himself so there had been only a few official complaints so far.

The Ambassador from Khundia refuses point black to discuss her personal security measures with the onboard Legionnaires unless Kord Das is personally there to oversee it. She didn’t turn up as Commander Hor Elli had issued the request.

The Dalai Lama of the Trom Buddhist Collective was also missing from the meeting. One of his minor envoys, a small nimble man, had given a signed roll of vellum to Hor Elli earlier. The simple message “Not yet Commander” and the wax seal of the High Speaker, the personal assistant of the Lama were all it contained.

Most worrying, thought Hor Elli, was that the Naltori ambassador had sent a wreath of white garnert jloopi blooms. These funereal flowers were a fairly universally accepted signal for acknowledging death of a friend. With the blooms was a one time use Holo Chip with a six second burst apologising for their absence. No reasons were given.

Hor Elli walks into the small room and is greeted, not unexpectedly, by a barrage of questions from the Ambassadors present.

As they grow louder and more aggressive Commander Hor Elli speaks softer.

It was a trick used by one of his Pod Milking Mothers when he was a small child. The Ambassador from Vengar is screeching in a most unprofessional manner. The Hajorian Princeling is shooshing her in the distracted manner one would normally reserve for a child. The Holy Sceptre of the Brahimian Muslim Federation is quietly eye fucking the overly loud Larger Frodigyan as it squeals with it’s three adult voices into his face. The Winathian twins are, as ever, arguing between themselves, pointing fingers and pouting.

“So we expect the group from McCuiloloa Major to be back in six standard hours, along with the Freetraders sending a further group of Braves we can assure you all that we are taking this situation very seriously. The cream of the recent Auxiliary force are being fast tracked to be on hand within the next ten hours We hope this will reassure you that we have a robust defence plan now in order. Do any of you have any questions?”

If any of them had a question it was lost amid the din of the Larger Frodigyan's high pitched squeals of fear and the Vengarian attention seeking arm waving and shouts.

He pauses for the required three seconds before adding “Well if that’s all Gentlebeings I only have one question left to ask.”

Again he pauses. The Winathian Twins have disconnected their Holo Chip link, probably as they had resorted to blows again. The Hajorian Princeling is the only Being present who has apparently listened to a word Hor Elli had said. He starts to address the Daxamite Commander when the Green haired Vengari Ambassador decides that the Princeling should be paying her some serious attention and pulls at his turban to get his attention. They have a moment, a frozen knife sharp moment, where they stare at each other before the Princeling rather unwisely decides to try to slap the Vengari Ambassador. Commander Hor Elli was on record later saying that the Princeling's broken arm was treated immediately after the meeting finished.

“If no one has any problems then I’ll inform the Titan Net that they can waive standard Ambassadorial regulations and begin to probe each of you as soon as this meeting is over then, shall I?”

Within a second he had their undivided attention. The dramatic fade out of their chameleon cloaks and the sudden appearance of the black and ornate gilted robed and hooded couple of Questioners from the Titan Net at the Commander’s side probably helped he thought.

“Well”, he thinks, “now we will see what they know that may help us catch the killer. That should have shocked them, they certainly didn't expect that!”

Commander Hor Elli is not visibly disturbed by the unexpected voice from Cardinal Alverez at his side when the Titan Net representative telepaths directly to him.

“Of course you have their attention now Commander, no-one expects the Inquisition.”

Kord Das is not to be disturbed.

He has posted very strict orders that for another 62 hours his laboratory lounge is not to be contacted. At all. Don’t even think of it! He offered vague observational promises that there would not be anything worthy of his intervention anyway, still the Media had gotten wind of trouble in the Ambassadorial Levels and they hounded Kord Das’s bubblejack AI secretary for information.

In his absence Security was to be under Commander Hor Elli’s remit. The Media had learned that, as infuriatingly tight lipped Kord Das was Hor Elli is virtually impossible to get any news worthy quotes from. The Daxamite Commander’s nickname amongst the Chattering Media was ‘The Vice’ because of this. Still, they all agree, Hor Elli is a lot more tractable than Enri Longtan of the Leviathons. At least Hor Elli doesn’t have them fined for filming him eating, sleeping, performing any bodily function, speaking to family or a host of other non negotiable escape clauses that the Leviathon’s leader insists they all comply with.

Second in command was the Green Lantern Widdid Spood. At present he is in space half an AU from Legion ‘Stroid overseeing the recent Quarantine status of all Crafts and space faring bodies and Beings within an AU of the Legion’s base. The Media were discreet enough to take the hint (after only three eyespys were destroyed) that he was not to be disturbed right now either.

The Freetraders, working alongside Widdid Spood, were legendary for their refusal to understand the urgent necessity and importance of the Media’s questions and inquisitive probing. It was not a satisfactory time for the fleet of eyespys, quizcam and Hounds that took residence in Legion ‘Stroid.

Enri Longtan is on a mission.

Hor Elli has asked him to check if all is well with the Naltori Ambassador, Uji Koll, after he did not show in person to the recent meeting. Hor Elli lets Enri know that this is to be a very discreet operation. Hor Ellis exact word were “No blatchin’ fireworks Enri or I’ll have your hutchies in a jar, understand?”

There was no arguing with that.

After the recruit Fredd’s death on a mission he had led Enri knew that his every deed was being thoroughly scrutinized. Well Enri was clever enough to know that this was a temporary measure and if he kept his head down in a matter of months all this would be forgotten.

As the leader of the Imskian Leviathons Enri Longtan had been used to having virtual carte blanche when it came to his missions and operational leadership style. Within the new Legion framework he did not have nearly as many options or freedoms. Still he was more than experienced enough to know that he had options available to him that might surprise those that were watching and willing for a fall. As he approached the ceremonial guardbot at the main iris entrance to the Naltori Small Sphere Enri squared his shoulders, took a deep breath and smiled as he presented his palms in the universal non threatening sign of peace.

The guardbot did not respond. Instead he was surprised as a holo of the Ambassador sprung up before him, the long ceremonial Seers robes moving slightly in time with a breeze not felt in this pedestrian walkway.

“Welcome Gimallon of the Leviathons. You and your feline acquaintance may enter.”

The ambassador’s smile showed he understood that Enri had hoped to take Cheshire, the Elevated Cat of the Team Three recruits into the Naltori Small Sphere without his knowledge. Enri had enough grace to bow his head in momentary acknowledgement of Uji Koll’s intelligence and Sight.

“Thank you sir, we don’t want to be of any inconvenience, we only require to ascertain your personal safety and then we’ll leave.”

The Holo smiles again, a twinkle of mischievous happiness showing in the ambassador’s eye.

“Of course, do come in”

Cheshire, who had faded back into view with a total lack of embarrassment while the two had talked, looked up at the Holo before them and asks “Got any food on you Uji, I’m starved!”

Enri feels the beginning of a blush as the ambassador’s smile widens.
