I'm fortunate to have seen Deborah Harry perform live twice in my life. She has the most magnetic personality. All eyes are on her as soon as she takes the stage, and everyone is mesmerized until the end. Here she sings about one of my favorite pass times:

The Nineties brought our town Lea Krueger's band On A Llama. Damn. What a great set of pipes. I still listen to this beauty all the time. I think Krueger had to semi-retire from the biz because of illness.
Also vintage local Nineties goodness: Carla Bozulich's old outfit, The Geraldine Fibbers. Never got to see them live. More's the pity, but at least we've still got YouTube.

Here's a woman who made a career of speaking truth to power. She took her lumps, decided integrity was more important than popularity, and seems just fine with the decisions she made.

And speaking of Ms. Smith. And, speaking of speaking truth to power. I remember when this CD came out one of the magazines had the cover blurp: "Where Has She Been and Why the World Needs Patti Smith".
