You can't talk about guitar women without Memphis Minnie (1897-1973). Her husband, Ernest "Little Son Joe" Lawler wrote this tune: one of her best-known. He also accompanies her here.
Also, here's "Caught Me Wrong Again," one of my personal faves. My copy doesn't say who wrote it, but that's all Minnie herself on the guitar.

This could easily go on the Amazing Covers thread, but seems to fit with Rick's original intent here. Yeah, Joss has her critics. She's also got some pipes, great legs and a lot of sass. I've really grown to like her.

I am one of Joss' critics. My problem with her is that for someone sold to the public as Teh White Soul Singer of Her Generation, she sounds more to me like Cher than any soul sister. Meanwhile, there've been white girls with far more soul in my opinion who haven't gotten half the hype that Joss has.

I just heard this young lady for the first time today and caught the title of the song only. I looked it up and lemme just say that the lady is a singular talent, combining a powerful, raw, glorious voice with crystal clear talent.

you can't bring up Power Chicks without mentioning the late great Tina Marie. "behind the groove" and "Square Biz" and in the 90's she should've bee none of the greats CeCe Peniston she didn't just sing...SANG!!! "Keep on Walking"

(I have never needed this song more than I need it right now.)
