As they approach the CCC Deck for their shift at the Helm, Jo Nah and Zoe Saugin meet Helen of Thermyscira as she purposefully strides down the corridor toward the Hopper Bay.

“Afternoon Sister” Zoe says, a quizzing half smile on her face.

“Hey H” says Jo as he struggles to tie his long hair into a manageable ponytail.

“Can’t stop to talk, I’ve got to meet Clear Skies Coming.” And Helen is past them and striding down the corridor towards the Mixway tubes. As she reaches them and bounds aboard the first tube that passes Jo turns and winks at Zoe.

“Well, call me cynical but I’d say someone ain’t getting any!”

“Oh Jo…” Zoe can’t keep the laughter lines around her eyes from crinkling.

The klaxon screams into life at that point and they race the 250 yards around the main corridor to the CCC Deck.

Aboard they find Rocket Joe, obviously getting angry with the holovisual of a Matriach from the Great Herd.

“Allow me, thanks” says Jo as he pushes Rocket Joe aside quite roughly.

Rocket Joe turns to Zoe and says “We have a blatchin’ Khund Dragon Hunter coming up from behind the Herd swallowing our suppport drones and scaring the flotilla around us and the Matriachs are demanding answers.” He looks into the walkway and asks more to himself than to either Zoe or Jo “Were is she now?”

“I think", says Zoe, head half turned between Jo Nah and Rocket Joe, “she went to talk to Clear Skies Coming.”

“Not Helen of Thermyscira, I meant Lady Reptilla!” his harsh reply.

Turning back to give the conversation between Jo Nah and the Matriarch her full attention Zoe says to herself “Maybe she has too…”

Jo Nah is talking to the Grand Matriarch in standard interlac, though the Matriarchs normally sing song voice has been replaced by a guttural harsh language that owes as much to growling as to words.

Jo suddenly cuts off the transmission and turns to address Rocket Joe and Zoe.

“The Grand Matriarch wants us to deal with the Khund, and quickly! There’s a pod of hunting drones who wouldn’t mind dealing with them too. We have one half hour to get them ten AU's from the herd or there’ll be a bloodbath!” Jo has a serious expression, his eyes suddenly hard and focussed.

“The young males are restless enough without them hunting and chasing Khunds through the support flotilla” says Rocket Joe.

“So”, says Zoe “You two want to stand there and talk about it all day or you want to join me in dealing with this?”

Rocket Joe straightens his back slightly but gives no other sign that her rebuke has been heard. Jo Nah smiles a big vaccuous looking smile and says in his best hick-from-the-Streams voice “Well ma’am, Ah can’t rightly say, laak… do we have a real choice?”

Zoe smiles back as she asks the bubblejack AI navigator control to reset the Cruisers course so it intercepts the advancing Khund Dragon Hunting ship.

“Let’s go kick some Nass!”

I didn't have as much time as I thought this weekend so you'll have to wait for the next couple of installments. Hope these will whet your appetite enough until then.

Thanks again for your support guys.

Lobo pulls away from Abbi.

They have been locked together in a berserker waltz of passion for several long energetic minutes. With a great big grin on his face he asks “So doll, you wanna get out of this dumpster and come hang with the Main Man in the Rimbor Territories? Eh? We’ll jump on one of my little Dolphin friends an’ be back there in no time, whatcha say to that?”

Abbi grins back for a second then turns to Glorion as he cowers in the corner.

“Hey fattie, gimme your waistcoat, I need those Survival Threads.”

Glorion has the intricately decorated gold and red waistcoat off over his head by the time she has finished asking. He starts emptying his pockets and pulls of a deep blue scarab broach.

“Hey don’t bother, we’ll mail yer belongings back to ya.”

Both Lobo and Abbi exchange a sideways glance and crack up laughing at his attempt at a joke.

“Sure Mr lobo only I don’t think that your ummm Dolphins are too keen on magic so I thought …well I’d rather not upset you again you see… ” Glorion is practically fawning.

“Good point you little smeggin’ jegabbo, hurry up!”

Abbi walks over to Glorion, one hand on her hip the other held out just waiting for him to deposit his coat in her grip.

Lobo strides over to the pair, reaches to snatch the jacket from the nervous gorilla and his hand passes right through it!

“What??” Lobo turns around and catches Abbis eye, she smiles tight lipped with a glint of oh-well-no-great-loss in her eyes, and with that she vanishes. Poop! She’s gone.

He turns around to the gorilla and is irate to see that he too has vanished.

“WHAT??”

Lobo screams a primordial howl, his head thrown back, his hands tightly squeezed into claws.

“Right! You pair of bastiches are gonna DIE!”

The dozen Khunds who had been watching while Lobo kissed the girl then proceeded to take his own trousers off and talk into empty space while apparently trying to dance around the small Droneship's docking bay(while the gorilla and the thin girl whom he had briefly snacked lips with had walked surreptitiously out of said Droneship) stopped sniggering, turned and fled.

What has gone before.

The Milky Way as we know it is a far different place in the 35th century to the 30th century. There has been a decade and a half long struggle with Beings from the Valenian Realms, called the War of Entrapment with the Grand Invaders.

Kord Das, a Naltori Seer with a life times training in Coluan thought processing and information gathering techniques, has reformed The Legion in the 35th Century.

Amongst the newly reformed Legion are Jo Nah, the former Ultra Boy, his long time sorceress partner Zoe Saugin, the former Kinetix, Lobo the C’zarian immortal bounty hunter and dozens of meta beings from all corners of the galaxy.

After an at best fifty percent successful mission in the Valenian Realms the time spun Tamaran Princess is trapped in the intra-dimension rift. She is being aided by the Soul Singer of the Scots-Mauri people of McCuilola Major, Wee Eavey Hakkawolla.

Currently Zoe Saugin leads a team of Legionnaires including Jo Nah, Helen of Thermyscira also known as Sister Paragon, Lady Reptilla and Rocket Joe, all formerly of the Sol Defence League, and Clear Skies coming of the Starhaven Freetraders. Their mission is to persuade and guide the many herds of Space Dragons to a rendezvous point with the Legion ‘Stroid on the borders of the Grand Invader held Dark Space.

Abbi Ardeen had suffered a horrifically brutal life under the Braalian Scientific Elite and in an attempt to escape from their destructive regime took psionic control of a ship of Daxamite Space Rangers. It took the combined might of several of the new Legions most powerful members to capture her. Kord Das had secreted her in his laboratory and performed experiments on her until she generated a powerful psychic scream he could channel into the Valenian Realms as a challenge to the Grand Invaders.

Glorion Grundy, one of the few descendants of Gorilla City and an Information Adept from the Sorcerors World Tharn has kidnapped Abbi Ardeen from Kord Das’s laboratory in Legion ‘Stroid. He had snuck aboard a Legion Drone ship bound to deliver supplies to flotilla being guided by the Zoe Saugin led Legion Team.

After discovering Abbi had been kidnapped Kord Das ordered Lobo to track her down and return her to him – without leaving any witnesses. Lobo once lost at a game of Indian Head Poker to Glorion so he is taking great personal pleasure in tracking the gorilla and the young girl.

The Khund Dragon Hunters tried to attack Lobo while he was tracking Abbi through Hyper Space. Lobo took charge of the Khund vessels and has just captured the Droneship that Abbi and Glorion were hiding in. He is not finding them to be very willing prey.

more coming soon.

Wee Eavey Hakkawolla is infused with extra dimensional power.

It courses through her being like a raging fire through a dry forest. It pounds into her senses like a jackhammer and tears from her throat in a song as ancient as the first molecule of hydrogen.

Wee Eavey is the channel for the Being known to his Scots-Mauri worshippers as the Amber Man. The Amber Man has been sentient for many millions of millions of years and has allowed His senses to monitor the galaxy known as the Milky Way and many levels of the intra-dimensional realms around it for most of that time. He has seen stars born and watched them die. He has viewed the rise and fall of many thousands of cultures and civilisations. He is attuned to the Universal Symphony called the Song of Life. He has a knowledge and control of the firmament of the space time continuum that rivals the Mighty Oans themselves.

He is pouring his power through the lithe mortal frame of the 16 year old girl in the hope of righting a potentially catastrophic wrong that could permanently rupture the fabric of reality. He is trying to influence the escape of the time spun Tamaran Princess from the damaged Valenian realms.

He is trying to avert a war that could destroy all life within both the Valenian Realm and the Einsteinian Realities. He is not succeeding. The Princess has alerted the Life within the Valenian Realm to the warp hole that she and her Legionnaire comrades used to spy on them. The Life of the Valenian Realm is trying to block her escape. The Amber Man knows that if the Princess is trapped permanently within these intra dimensional realms then the Song of Life will suffer, and the hope He has in all futures within the Galaxy known as the Milky Way will remain trapped with her.

Chtukin Kaauchk, Most Revered and Fearsome Axe Wielding Arm and Mighty Fang of the Great Dragon Hunting Fleet of Imperial Khundia was in contact with the High Command Warship docking in Legion ‘Stroid at the moment when Zoe Saugin’s Legion Cruiser materialised from H-Space alongside his damaged vessel.

There had long been speculation amongst the higher echelons of Nu UP dignitaries that the Khund’s Space Dragon Hunters were controlled by their planetary Militia. Those speculations would have been confirmed unreservedly had the NuUP dignitaries overheard the conversation Chtukin Kaauchk was having at that moment.

“Oh most Mighty and Godlike Command of the One True Imperial Way, I beseech your aid as your most humble and unorthy of petitioners. The rogue Legionnaires are attacking our poor vessel, we require your Mighty Arm to defend this victim of their empirical aggression. Their Bounty Hunter Lobo is at this moment tearing our ships apart…”

Before he could complete is tale of woe or a reply could come through, an all Medium Communication Burst from the Legion Cruiser ripped across the Khund ship's comm board overriding the message Kaauchk was trying to send.

“Khunds, prepare to depart this space or we will be forced to repulse you!” The image of Rocket Joe materialised as the voice boomed through the Command Deck. “You have one minute to comply.”

Even as the message cut out Kaauchk could see on his Nav Screen that there were two legionnaires taking up position in space between the two ships and his Sensorgrid informed him that their cruiser was ready for a battle with all of it's formidable weapon array trained on his Comm Deck.

His crew were beginning to panic.

Zoe Saugin is meditating on board the Legion Cruiser.

Sat amid a flock of floor cushions, a small cone of incense smouldering deliciously before her, she chants the words used by mystics from many centuries past to help clear her mind of any distractions.

In her left hand she holds a small blue stone she unearthed on Syriee XI several decades ago. Its inherent magical traits are opening like a flower to the sun as she sinks her mind into it.

She reaches across the gulf of space to the Khund Dragon Hunting Ships with her mystically enhanced senses and quickly takes note of the positions of every Being on board the Khund vessel.

“Guys, I have some alarming news for you,” her thoughts hurled along the telepathways to her partner Jo Nah and fellow Leginnaire Rocket Joe, the former co-leader of the Sol Defence League. “Lobo and Glorion Grundy are on the Dragon Hunters ship, there’s also a very strong psionic with them. I get the feeling that there is more going on than we thought. “

Jo Nah replies almost instantly, “the Grand Matriarch will unleash the Drones if we don’t do something soon Zoe, got any ideas?”

“I’ll try to contact them, you deal with the Armoury for now Jo, ok? Rocket Joe, you puncture their Sensorgrid and we’ll deal with things from there. Good luck guys.”

She takes three deep breaths, reaches into one of her pouches and takes out a ring with four green stones on it. Zoe keeps hold of the Syrieean Blue Stone of Expansion in her left hand as the small ring in her right hovers above her palm, spinning gently. She knows she will only have one attempt at this. Mixing the magical styles from two separate cultures is never an easy task but Zoe realises that if she does not get to Glorion soon then the rage she felt from the insane C’zarian Lobo towards the gorilla will have disastrous repercussions. Lobo wants to kill Glorion and he’ll destroy anything or anyone in his way to do it.

Zoe Saugin has an innate ability to sense magical properties in objects nearby. She has met Glorion and is well aware of the small scarab that lurks in his belly. She cannot allow Lobo to harm the Gorilla as Zoe Saugin knows that there is a prophecy tied to the Scarab, a prophecy that must be allowed to happen.

She is more than ready to lay down her own life if need be to ensure that this prophecy is fulfilled.

The Being known to the general populace of the 35th Century as Lady Reptilla is amongst the Great Herd of Space Dragons, wearing the assumed form of a Dragon Drone.

This being has lived a very long life and assumed many forms in that time. The current form held is no nearer to the one it was born into than the Lady Reptilla identity it so carefully created 28 years ago, on the exact day that Kord Das was born. This date was no coincidence. For many centuries there have been prophecies and predictions about the influence the Naltori Seer who recently recreated the Legion would have on the Milky Way. The Being who would become Lady Reptilla knew that it would have an important part to play in the Final Battle so took many years of contemplation and meditation to craft the identity to suit the needs it would have.

Taking on the identity of Lady Reptilla had been a masterstroke of misdirection.

For 28 years it had hidden in plain sight as one of the most famous and respected meta beings known to the Milky Way. This Being had had enough experience of life, war and intergalactic politics to know that the only way it could influence any outcomes would be through personal strength of personality, wealth and manipulating the support of the all pervasive AllMedia News Web.

The rumours and stories that had blazed across the AllMedia Web when it had first joined the Sol Defence League had been succinctly dealt with. “The plural of hearsay is not evidence.” The phrase that it had used to silence the whisper campaign manufactured against it by a media Service unused to dealing with high profile Beings with little known past. The Galactic Media had unhappily changed their tune to that of support for this supposed rags to riches, poor orphan mutant done good. And for nearly 25 years the Being had lived the lie it had told.

Hiding it’s original identity whilst at the forefront of the meta community had been only part of it’s original plan. The introduction to Rocket Joe, a shallow greedy mutant with tremendous charisma had given it the perfect ally, and their so-called ‘eternal love of one another’ was the perfect distraction to the intrusive eyes of the Galaxy.

Over the last two and a half decades careful use of hidden abilities to manipulate public perceptions had helped create a personal fortune well in excess of all but a few dozen Beings alive. This fortune was carefully helping many worlds with all manner of donations of aid, was guiding the ethics of many of the major Business Houses in the Galaxy, and was a clever disguise of any hints of a connection between the original identity this Being had held and the Lady Reptilla identity it now assumed.

The telepathic alert from the Grand Matriarchs to the Drones informing them that there were Khund Dragon Hunters on their tail, alongside Zoe Saugins telepathway’d call summoning Legionnaires to help repulse these potential attackers had only confirmed it’s suspicions that the Great Herd’s were being led into a trap. The Being had no idea of the Future Kord Das had told Zoe Saugin to persuade her to get the help of the Great Space Dragon Hers but it knew that that Future was away to become reality.

Whatever the outcome it knew that the future of the Milky Way would be decided within a matter of days.

Helen of Thermyscira considered not responding to the telepathway’d alert.

As an invading force against her self discipline and military training she was aware of the rush of her pulse and the calling of a selfish internal longing as she stepped onto the Hopper and directed it’s minor AI Bubblejack to take her to the Freetrader out amongst the awesome Great Herds. The telepathway’d alert had taken the blinkers from her and she re-directed the Hopper to rendezvous with the Cruiser at the rear of the Great Herd with a desperate hollow feeling swelling within her stomach and an almost childish snarl of reluctance.

Her many decades of training amongst the Amazons on Paradise Island took over though the internal struggle was fierce. She had never felt as she did right now. The confusion, the need to see Clear Skies Coming and explain, the need to feel his hands against her, the hunger she felt were foreign to her usual calm control. She had a moment of.. what? Panic? She was unsure of what she should be doing. Clear Skies Coming of the Starhaven Freetraders was waiting for her. She surely had a duty to her self? This strange thought froze her for a second time. Helen of Thermyscira was unsure of it’s origin but it had a grip of her heart and she could not get it to let go.

Helen prayed to Mother Hera and Father Zeus that she would be allowed the opportunity for the conversation she longed to have with the Starhavenite.

……………………….

Clear Skies Coming was one with space around his small mortal frame. His Starhaven awarenesses allowed him to share the beauty of the universe on a truly cosmic level. He could feel Legion ‘Stroid, only a days travel away, he knew that there were over a thousand of the Kenroshi Starsailors out in the dark depths, the Bubble Arcships of the Wandering Stars and hundreds of his space faring folk close by. The flotilla of support vessels and meta Beings around the Legion ‘Stroid were like a minor Oort cloud around a stellar system.

Within the space of 6 light years there was an army amassing the likes of which the galaxy had never seen before. Clear Skies Coming was lost too far within the fascination of this knowledge to hear Zoe Saugins call to arms. It would have made no difference as he had already decided that whatever was about to happen he would be at the forefront. If any of the diverse clans originally of Starhaven were to survive the coming battle his bravery would ensure they remembered his name for generations to come.

Only a few more posts to go as we catch up with my favourite simian, Glorion, and his mischievious hitch hiker the NowYouSeeMeNowYouDon't Beetle and their psychopathic renegade telepath fellow runaway Abbi Ardeen until this arc ends and the final story of this incarnation of the Legion gets underway. Anyone got any thoughts, views, comments they want to share?

Abbi Ardeen, Glorion Grundy and the NowYouSeeMeNowYouDon’t Beetle are hiding in a small storage compartment off the Khund Ship’s mess hall. Glorion is eating a handful of Guaminuts. His mouthfuls of these hard dark delicacies are not stopping him from speaking his mind, though it might be true to say he is spraying somewhat. Abbi is unperturbed, it’s not nearly as disgusting as some of the things she had been forced to eat while held in the Braal prisoner camp.

Glorion : So why did you allow him to touch me? We would have gotten away if you’d taken the survival threads yourself!

Abbi : It was in his mind furbag, I was already manipulating him for all I’m worth, he isn’t as stupid as you think you know. He’s been around for a long time Gorilla, so he knows psychic manipulation and he’s a shrewd bastard. He was testing me when he asked me to join him to Rimbor. Why didn’t you let me just blast him anyway? I could brain maim him easy!

Glorion : I don’t think we’d notice any difference…

Beetle : While I agree that Lobo is a pest he does have a purpose in all this too. He’d never have been allowed to influence my behaviour otherwise Abbi…

Abbi : A purpose? What sort of purpose is bullying, terrorising and killing Beings for fun, I think you don’t know what you’re talking about.

Glorion : <chomp>

Beetle : Well while I don’t think you should be casting the first stone I must point out he herded us here to the Next Ascension Point. The Many Facets within the Universal Godhead won’t allow anything to happen that isn’t supposed to. Abbi, let’s forget about Lobo for a minute, can you remember any of the things you found in Kord Das’s mind?

Glorion : I’ve cast a couple of Alarum spells Abbi, we’ll know if he gets close…

Abbi : What’s Das got to do with…

Glorion : <chomp>

Beetle : Please Abbi, you must understand, Kord Das has unleashed a monstrous force upon the Galaxy, I… we would benefit from Knowing the real reason why. There is momentous occurrence in Galactic History happening around us.

Abbi : Well… He doesn’t really see the future directly… it’s like he’s reading a script, or a book, y’know? All his Visions are like from a storybook that’s still to be writ. He does see them, and he truly believes they’re a realistic version of what’s to come, but he doesn’t know exactly what is meant to happen as he, like, has only read about it, not Seen it directly… umm does that explain it?

Glorion : My Theological Precognition teacher, old Xintrull McQuire used to say true Seers were rarer than a Unicorn’s fart.

Beetle : Thanks Glorion. Well it certainly explains why he says he knows so much more that every other Seer in centuries. He is only Seeing reports of the future. I did wonder why the Universe had allowed him so much information.

Glorion : <chomp>

Abbi : Yeah, that reminds me, the freckin’ jeygabo got his idea to torture me from a book by that big blue shart Dak Sacchev! Wait ‘til I see Sacchev again, I’ll tell him straight about what he can and can’t tell people in his bloody book.

Glorion : I’m quite certain Dak‘ll be terribly sorry Abbi, he’s a surprisingly gently Being.

Beetle : It’s very difficult to give accurate predictions Abbi, trust me I’ve been doing it for millennia now. There are too many variables even for a Brainiac to compute, there are just too many atoms and different ways they can go. The Universe simply won’t allow its creations that sort of clarity. Das is probably about to find that out for himself, and maybe we can help him. What do you think?

Abbi : What? You saying we should just rewrite Future History for Das’s sake so he is wrong footed? Hotdiggedydog! Beetle you are the sneakiest li’l bastard I’ve ever met!

Beetle : Well thank you Abbi, I knew there was a good reason for freeing you.

Abbi : yeah... thanks Beetle, and you too Glorion, guess it couldn't have been easy for you huh?

Glorion and Beetle : ...

Beetle : So Abbi why don’t you give me some details of what you’ve seen in Das’s mind and we can take it from there.

Glorion : <chomp* cough> Uh guys, haven’t you forgotten about something? I mean forging books that haven’t yet been written to fool a Brainiac Seer is something but haven’t we overlooked a small problem?

Beetle and Abbi : What now Glorion?

Lobo : That’ll be me! Now you bastiches are gonna DIE!

Zoe Saugin begins the incantation that she hopes will save her fellow Legionnaires from Lobo’s rage.

The merging of the two different branches of magic that the talismen access involves shunting their energies through her being creating a potential dangerous mix, filtered through her natural mystical abilities. She prays to the Mother Goddess that her constitution is strong enough to manage the powers she is away to call upon.

In her left hand the Syrieean Blue Stone of Expansion allows her to increase certain aspects of her, to reach across the gulf of space. It is vital to her plan that she is able to ‘see’ into Lobo’s eyes. The nature of the second magical artefact is such that the user must be able to do this to unleash the spell within. It is an incredibly simple spell, and very effective. The ring that currently hovers above Zoe’s right palm, slowly turning sending sparks of reflected light from its green jewels into the dim apartment gives it’s user the ability to freeze an opponent as if time itself had stopped for them. Zoe is aware that Lobo is incredibly difficult to physically or mentally harm, this was the only solution she could see that would give Glorion the opportunity to escape the C’zarian.

As she starts the spell casting process she silently prays that her gorilla comrade has the sense to run when the opportunity arises. As rich in Earth Lore magicks as Zoe Saugin is she knows that there is no guarantee that this spell will last for very long but given the distances involved it is the best that she can manage.

As the spell starts and the two forces reach through Zoe's being she feels her hair start to singe, her skins heats up in a matter of seconds and her breath ignites.
