Name : Jay Elliott Age : 27 Where you live : Manchester, England What you do : Searching for my place in the world (still........argh!)
Legion info (favorite characters, creators, stories, eras; when you started reading; etc.) : Favourite characters : Ultra Boy, M'Onel/Valor/Mon'El (ahhh....the Gand dude), Shrinking Violet (sigh, I'm in love), Brainy, Ferro!!!! Karate Kid, Dawnstar. Fave story : THE END. That story always makes me cry. When I started reading : Er......I forget actually. But it was 5YG period. Not long before THE END. Bought a load of back issues following the war for Earth. What a ride! Then I bought as many back issues as I could. The Reflecto/Ultra Boy/Superboy story was amazing. I've just recently managed to pick up LSH 37 & 38. SIGH. Poor Supes. Never on my fave list but cool guy. Loved him returning as the anchor in the last run of V3.
Other things you like (movies, books, music, etc.) Fave book : Lord of the Rings. Read it every year since I was 8. Cool. Fave movie : Hmm. I love Planes Trains and Automobiles (I'm a sucker for a happy ending). Lord of the Rings (each one makes me cry). Fave music : Evanescence, Meat Loaf, Bon Jovi, Brian Adams, Nickelback, Metallica. Music with a message. Fave sport : Fencing. There's few things I've found that I love as much as a good sword fight.
Love to read and write. I have something published, just a poem in a poetry anthology. Working on a fantasy story which'll probably never see the light of day. Also assisting a friend as his "Creative consultant". I'm just pitching ideas his way.

I joined this board a while ago but never remembered to post to this thread. I'm rectifying that error now.

Legion info (favorite characters, creators, stories, eras; when you started reading; etc.):
Given my "advanced years" it shouldn't come as a surprise that I started reading the Legion during the fabled Adventure Comics days (the first one I bought was #333, "The War Between Krypton and Earth"...I still have it as a matter of fact.) I started reading the book because I was into all things Superman as a kid and Superboy's membership made Adventure a must buy.
The Legion is the one series I have followed faithfully...even during those times when I wasn't reading any other comics.
My all-time favorite Legionnaires are Brainiac 5, Superboy (Kal-El), Saturn Girl, Chameleon (Boy), and Dawnstar (I also have a soft spot for Kono and Kent Shakespeare from the TMK era.)
I've always been a DC fan but somehow I raised a son who is primarily a...shudder...Marvel fanatic (My daughter just read Elfquest...couldn't get her to read super-hero books.)

Legion: Dear Gods! I read the death of Ferro Lad as a young kid when it first came out. I remember waiting with tot fidgeting for the second part of the Fatal Five returns/seige of the LSH HQ story to come out. Pretty much have been around ever since, despite nearly constant cussing and spitting and general curmudgeonly fussing over damn near every issue of the Reboot era. (I'm an ossified Pre-Crisis fan and not well-adapted to change.) I did enjoy the dark and grim Five Years Later era, at least at first.
Other Interests: Um. Most things "weird" or "bizarre". Everything from Trek to Godzilla movies to Santo masked-Mexican wrestler movies to well, Mexican wrestling to Chambara flicks to HK Hopping vampires to...well. The list goes on for awhile.
Secret Weakness: Superheroine erotica. (hey! Nobody's perfect!) That and my cat rules my life. sigh.

First post!! yay! (I use too many exclamation marks that's my *real* super power!)
Name: Jackie
age: 31
location: near London, England
my legion history: first found the Legion by reading my older brother's dog eared old Adventure Comics issues, and a love of all things Legion related ensued from then on forever and ever amen etc. Was horrified when I first got a hold of a contemporary Legion issue (LSH 271 "who is the dark man") and found the costumes had been changed! I didn't get over that for years! (I was a child who hated change! )
Interest in current incarnation of Legion wavering somewhat just because it just doesn't feel like 'my legion' anymore. I want all the characters who have been needlessly killed off and changed species and powers back as they were. *sigh*.
After the Levitz period I was out of touch with the Legion for a while, was re-introduced by LSH v4 24 and 25. Talk about a re-baptism of fire! I didn't know what the heck was going on! I didn't know who any of the characters were! I knew Brainy and right, that guy in the hospital bed must be Timber Wolf because they are calling him Brin, but who is that yellow skinned blue haired girl with the freckles? Who's that tall blonde woman with the Supergirl powers? I was totally lost, but I was hooked again!
I'm talking too much about the Legion and not enough about myself ha.
Favourite characters-Princess Projectra and Brainiac 5. Both really came into their own in the TMK/v4 Legion I think. After the beautiful exploration of the Orandan culture hinted at by the Bierbaums for her to be reborn as a cartoon comedy snake who existed just to go nyaa nyaa to the old fans and make lame jokes about the British royal family....well it rankled with me to put it mildly.
One of the reasons I don't read the Legion anymore, but I may be getting back to it! (I believe things may have improved since I last read it)
Mmm I've gone on far too much. Sorry 'bout that!

Welcome ID - it's good to have someone else on this side of the big pond!
By the way - how near is near? Brian Cox apparently is quoted as saying that he comes from a little town just outside of Glasgow - and he's from Dundee.
heh, I'm from Staines, Middlesex. I was a little nervous of putting my exact location on the internet. It's become a habit to be deliberately vague, not that I really need to be secretive here, I really should have said it in the first place!

Hey there Numf-El and Infectious Drura! Is this a brit pack invasion or what? The first people I've spoken to in a while from England who love the Legion. I'm honoured (don't have to feel so funny about the spelling now) to meet you both.
P.S. I just got to ask, because I'm a bit of a geek, do either of you two desperately want to type "Valour" rather than "Valor"?
Funny story. I had a t-shirt printed from a Valor comic some years ago. Loved it. All my friends used to take the mickey out of me and call me the gas man. Valor gas. Sigh. Maybe you had to be there.

That's close enough - I certainly wouldn't ask you for more detailed info than that. I know of Staines 'cos the company I work for has a subsidiary company whose main office is in Staines, and I have a friend who works in their IT department who has travelled to and fro.

Wrong spy Teliyon - Scotland. Way up in Aberdeen for me.
Also on this side of the great pond are Sonnie Bloke (my brother), the adorable Harbinger, Faraway Lad and Gigglebot Girl, Sanity or Madness and Bevis, to name but a few.
I know what you mean about the spelling - I generally don't care too much, if we're expected to put up with their bad spelling then they can put up with our correct spelling.

Whoa, Numf-El. (AND whoops). Scotland. Nice one. Soz about the mistake.
And Blockade Boy : Merriam? Webster? I'm afraid the reference is lost on me. But taking the mickey means to insult in a friendly way. To rag on me. A bit of banter between friends.
