I got a bunch of new CDs this week from work and burned some today--all good and worth checking out:
*Martha (sister of Rufus)Wainwright's self titled CD
* The Bravery (self titled)
* Spoon (Gimme Fiction)--
* Stars (Set Yourself on Fire)
* Eisley (Room Noises)
* Keren Ann (Nolita)
* Annie (Anniemal)--Norwegian dance diva; borrows heavily from the Madonna/Kylie school. The tracks "Chewing Gum" and "Me Plus One" are irresistible.
Other than that last one, those are all "Alternative" music (does that even MEAN anything anymore?), but my new favorite song is actually--wait for it--COUNTRY: "Kerosene" by Miranda Lambert. It kicks ass.

Would it be possible to burn individual songs from various artists onto CD rather than just doing stuff by one artist only?

Yeah--you can build playlists of songs from as many CDs you want (well, until the CD space is filled) and then burn them to a CD. That's one of my favorite past-times! Every program for that is a bit different, but they're all pretty easy. Once you get the hang of it, you'll be breezing through it!

Get an Ipod or Another MP3 player...you can playlist to your hearts content and have your own little personal soundtrack that fits in your pocket

I love my Ipod. Once I figured out how to use it, it's great. I have an adapter thingie to make it play in the car, and a mini stereo thing it plugs into for the house--great fun to make different playlists!

I always liked the Killers. I enjoyed their kinda neo 80's sound, but when I saw the video (and therefore *heard* the music) for "All These Things That I've Done," all of a sudden I had a new favorite song! I LOVE it! Can't listen to it enough. I've even sung it at karaoke already.

I got this neat CD "Punk Goes 80s" with covers galore. Forever Young by So They Say, Everyone Wants to Rule the World by Jamison Parker, and funny cover of Paula's 'Straight Up' but I forgot who...
Oh yeah, and I just saw Michael Bublé in concert so I'm groovin' on my Bublé playlist right now...
