Good evening to all of you in the United Planets. Welcome to this special look back at one of the greatest heroes the Earth ever knew.
It's been almost a ten and a half years since the Dominators chambers detonated and destroyed the planet Earth. Billions of sentients lost their lives when Earth was destroyed, and if not for the efforts of the United Planets and the Legion of Super Heroes, many more would have perished. But we are not here today to talk about those great men and women who gave their lives to save so many of us from Earth. Nor those Heroes who have been missing for over ten years now. And while a new Legion has risen to take their place, we still miss our protectors of old.
No, we are here today to celebrate a man who did the unthinkable, and saved so many. This man saved millions from a certian death, and it was almost never discovered.
Ennis Janhson was born on Earth, and grew up on the outskirts of Smallville, Kansas. He was an ordinary boy until he discovered he had the power to change animals into humans, and humans into animals. He once even tried out for membership in the Legion of Super Heroes under the code name of Animal Lad. Unfortunately for Ennis, he tried out during the time that Dynamo Boy had taken control of the Legion and was trying to recruit people he could use to commit crimes. Rejected because he was a good person, he decided to work at the Metropolis Game Preserve as their Director for Endangered Species Control.
A position that he held up until the Dominators decided to destroy Earth, and kill all those on it. When the call came from the United Planets for help, Ennis chose to act as the hero that he always was. He coordinated with the Earth Science Police somewhere on the Western coast of Africa, as he was there researching an endangered species already. He saved millions of lives with his power. The two transport cruiser that they used was quickly outfitted to prvide maximum storage capacity for what was to come next.
Over the course of 2 days, he and his Science Police escort travelled to any populated area they could to save as many as possible. He used his power to change as many people as he could into a strain of self sustaining Amoebae's. When they received the dictate to leave Earth in order to reach safe distance, they made one more stop and saved approximatley 500,000 more people from disaster.
They almost made it to a safe distance before the Earth was destroyed. They were knocked off course as they entered trans warp speed and drifted with only emergency power to sustain them for months. Ennis had transformed all crew members aboard, including his Science Police escorts into safe animals that could survive with minimal sustenance. He then piloted the ship towards the one hospitable planet that he was closeest to.
When found by the Lallorian heroes, Ennis was a shell of the man he started out as. With the permission of the Lalloriann Government, he restored 7,348,485 sentients to their true forms. He was last seen being taken to a hospital on Lallor, where he was pronounced dead ten years ago today.
Those of us from Earth never got a chance to thank him personally for his heroic actions those last few days on Earth...or his determination to get his precious cargo to a safe world. It is only through programs like this that we can express our deepest gratitude to Ennis Janhsonwas, or Animal Man if you will, who reminded us all that he was a hero.

"Why do you make me watch these things? That's the third one this week, and don't you have better things to do than coming here every other week to subject me to this stuff, Discharge?"
"Call me Graym, and it's because You need to be reminded of what you did."
"A lot of good that did..."
"Look. It's not your fault that there was noplace else for them to go after they were restored. Lallor gave them what land they could. Just thank whatever gods you believe in that you weren't near Braal."
"Yeah, but now this whole damned planet is on the verge of civil war."
"All the more reason to join us. What do you say?"
"Is your Uncle still around?
"Yes. He's still our advisor."
"Alright then. I'm in. This is going to be messy though."
"Yeah, but wait to you see who else we got to join..."

This is the prelude to what I'm going to be doing. Things will make sense soon...and I'm going to be switching to a blog for the main stories. Just wanted to get a few things down on "paper"...

Read it, and I am looking forward to this ride!
The 5YL continuity is so full of potential, and I love the idea of reboot-era favorites being there (I think the changeup with Gates was the right way to go for this continuity)!
And you KNOW I'll be watching those new characters, one in particular has intrigued me...!
I thought so, but I wasn't sure. Thanks for confirming. I'm sure this is a dream come true for a certain someone.
Another spoiler box from me:
Click Here For A SpoilerUnlike most people, I did not think the "death" of Sarya was worthy of such a great villainess, and needed to be rectified. Besides, Levitz "killed" her just thirty or so issues after he'd first made her awesome. She needed to be in lots and lots more stories, and now, thanks to the magic of fan fiction, she will be. Thanks again, Dev.

Feeling inspired today, so another part is up, it's an interlude...but contains all sort of info. This one took an unexpected turn for me...but it's where the story went as I wrote it.
