Hey, I got a few issues of Exiles because they featured the Shi'ar Superguardians/Imperial Guard. I consider them "Legion" anyway and buy every comic they appear in, but I really enjoyed the story too. I hadn't noticed Mr. Bedard was the writer!

Really??? I always had the impression that blowing the Earth up was Mr Giffen's decision and it was planned from the beginning. Can't remember where I had read about it, or whether it was just an extrapolation from other information regarding v5. I feel better knowing it wasn't his decision. Do tell more about it Tromium. Pls!

Y'know, what happened the last time a Legion book was left short of writers after around 30 or so issues; with someone else stepping in for a short term stint?
Nah, couldn't happen again...

The series was cancelled and replaced by a better one that outsold it?
I'd be in favor of that!

Dain, you'll find most of the story here in Michael Grabois' Legion Omnicon.
Giffen's "hat trick" plan, which he was not allowed to proceed with, is there, as well as the reason he gave for blowing up the Earth as he was going out the door, i.e, because "no one was looking".
It all boiled down to irreconcilable creative differences between KG and the editors.

So that was the "hat trick". Thank you Tromium, that article was....most enlightening!
I don't think the magazine will be cancelled what with 52 and DC's plans for the Legion in the near future, not to mention the coming 50th anniversary next year. After that, though, no one knows what the powers-that-be will do with it. I'm sure Mr. Bedard has the ability to do a really great job and I hope he'll stay for more than a few months.

Of course. I do have to thank a certain company that I tolerate having to give money to for the inspiration.
