Virginia has "West" and plain ol' Virigina. Samoa has "American" and "Western". Yemen was North and South, but they were more like east and west of each other.
So, is it that they were divided where one entity was west of the other?

Not what I meant, but what the heck, let's get this game moving on...
What I was really looking for was that the named entities have or had two portions, one of which was designated by direction...and the other was not. West Virginia's other isn't East Virginia, it's just plain Virginia. Western Samoa (now known just as Samoa, but the "Western" usd to be official)'s other isn't Eastern, but American. And North Yemen's other was never officially called South Yemen, it was just plain Yemen.
You take the next one, Rockhopper.

You could also have added Holland and Wales to that list.
They are all towns in Massachusetts.
